ジョニ・ミッチェルのミュージック・キャリアを俯瞰する壮大なるプロジェクト““アーカイヴ・シリーズ”第一弾

時代・地域を超えて多くの音楽リスナー、ミュージシャンから変わらぬ共感と尊敬を集めるシンガー・ソング・ライター、ジョニ・ミッチェルが初めて自らの倉庫のドアを開けた。
ライノ・レコードはジョニの協力のもと発見された国宝級の音源を、丹念に調査、レストアし数年かけて““アーカイヴ・シリーズ”として発表する。
その第一弾が『アーカイヴスVol. 1～アーリー・イヤーズ（1963-1967）』で1968年ジョニがリプリーズ・レコードからデビューする以前の貴重な音源が収録された5枚組CDボックスセットとなる。
このアーカイヴは1963年故郷カナダ・サスカチュワン州サスカトゥーンにあったラジオ局CFQC29に出演したときに披露したアニマルズやボブ・ディランでお馴染みのアメリカン・トラッド・ソング「朝日のあたる家」でスタートする。ジョニ最初期の音源で彼女は19歳だった。
続く6時間にも及ぶこの『アーカイヴ VOL. 1』には未公開ホーム・デモ、ライヴ、ラジオ出演時の音源など興味のつきない「財宝」がちりばめられていて、ジョニの類いまれな才能とその成長過程を垣間みることが出来る。
29もの未発表の自作曲が含まれていることは特筆に値する。ブックレットは40ページに及び多くの未発表写真と映画監督キャメロン・クロウ（『あの頃、ペニー・レインと』『バニラ・スカイ』）がジョニに直接取材し書き下ろした解説を収録している。
